Our cam & groove couplings conform dimensionally to the USA Federal Military specification A-A-59326A(formerly MIL-C-27487)or EN 14420-7(formerly DIN2828)and our quality management is registered to ISO9001:2008.
■ FEDERAL MIL A-A-59326A
The USA Military specification MIL-C-27487 specified the casting methods, materials, dimensions, machining tolerances, pressure ratings, inspection procedures and packing requirements of the cam & groove couplings. In 1998, a new Federal MIL A-A-59326A has replaced MIL-C-27487。
Federal MIL A-A-59326A, guarantees interchangeability of couplings designed to the same specification. This American specification does not apply to the connection side, but only to the coupling side.
■ EN 14420-7
The European specification EN 14420-7 was approved by CEN in September 2004.
Cam & groove couplings produced to EN 14420-7 are interchangeable with those
made to specifications MIL-C-27487 / MIL A-A-59326A, but have differences in
the hose tail design, thread, part number and etc.
A flat thread seal has been added to the female threaded parts, and a smooth hose
shank complying with EN 14420-2 / DIN 2817 has been added for assembly with RK
safety clamps complying with EN 14420-3 / DIN 2817.
The European specification EN 14420-7 replaces DIN2828 but does not replace
Federal MILA-A-59326A / MIL-C-27487.
■ N.B. :
‧Cam & groove couplings must never be used for steam or compressed air applications
for safety reason.
‧No standard exists for ½", 5", 8" couplings, and generally these sizes do not
interchange with other
manufacaturers.
‧The accessories like handles, pins, rings, safety pins, chain, bolts, seals are not
standardized.
APPLICATIONS
Cam & groove couplings are used for hose -to-hose or hose-to pipe and manifold
connections and are perfect for applications requiring high volume, low pressure,
leakproofness, simplicity of connections. The adaptor and the coupler are
designed to minimize the fluid turbulence and the abrasion from dry products
when connected.
They're used widely in chemicals, food-processing, pharmaceutical, machinery,
mining, cement, and are convenient to transfer liquids and dry products including
water, fuels, chemicals,cosmetics, foodstuffs, offshore, pumps, adhesives, dyes,
pharmaceuticals, pellets and many more.
■ Material applications
Aluminium cam & groove coupling is lightweight and suitable for light duty
applications.
Bronze cam & groove coupling is suitable for mining and off shore purpose.
Stainless steel cam & groove coupling is suitable for chemical and food
processing and corrosive environments.
Polypropylene cam & groove coupling is lightweight and offers excellent chemical
resistance with all stainless steel moving parts make this cam coupling one of the
most cost effective. Polypropylene cam & groove coupling is suitable for agricultural
and chemical industries.
OPERATIONS
Any adaptor(male )may be coupled with any coupler(female)of the same
size. This provides maximum flexibility in setting up the most convenient and
efficient quick coupling system needed for the job.
■ To connect
Open the coupler by pulling back the safety pin above the cam handles, lift the
cam handles. Simply slide the adaptor into the coupler and with normal hand
pressure, press the cam handles down to the sides of the coupler.
Locking occurs when the cam handles are closed.
■ To discommect
Open the coupler by pulling back the safety pin above the cam handles, lift the
cam handles and remove the adaptor from the coupler.
■ N.B. :
‧Locking the coupler when not in use will help protect it from accidental damage.

TEMPERATURE RANGE
High temperatures and / or Teflon (PTFE)seals will reduce the pressure rating of the
cam & groove couplings. In case of Polypropylene, the maximum working temperature
is 70℃ /160℉, at which temperature the working pressure shown above must be
reduced by 40%.
■ N.B. :
‧Cam & Groove couplings must never be used for steam or compressed air applications.
‧Dust plugs (type DP)and dust caps (type DC)are not to be used in pressure applications.
‧Working pressure depends on sizes, metals, temperatures, seals, and operating
conditions, and for use at
elevated temperature or other unusual operating conditions,
consult Shyang-Twu.
‧Under normal condition, safety pins are recommended in a safe manner.

INSPECTING CAM & GROOVE COUPLINGS
These inspection methods provide know-how for inspecting cam & groove couplings.
■ Inspecting procedure
Buyers or end users must not modify the numbers of collars and the shape of products.
Inspected by trained personnel wearing adequate protective cloths overall, rubber gloves, and eye protection
while inspecting.
■ Inspecting couplers(Types B / D / DC)
Check the coupler for roundness by inserting a new adaptor. If the adaptor does not
move smoothly in and out of
the coupler, the coupler should be abandoned.
Examine the seal area for nicks, gouges, scratches, dents, corrosion, or pitting. If any
of these conditions is present,
the coupler should be abandoned.
The new seal should be compatible with the material that is to be conveyed. The
color mark on the side of the seal
is for material identification.
Examine the cam handles for dents or excessive wear. If either is present on either
cam handle,replace both cam
handles.
Check the cam handles by moving up and down. If either cam handle does not move
smoothly, replace both cam
handles.
Compare the cam handles to a new one to see if either of cam handles is bent.
If one or both are, replace both
cam handles and the pins. Components should
be the same size and style as the ones that were removed.
Set coupler in a vertical position, insert the adaptor until it contacts coupler seal.
If the cam handles are less
than 90°, replace both cam handles and then re-insert.
If they're still not at 90°, the coupler should be abandoned.
Examine both safety pin lugs, if either lug is bent, broken or if the hole is closed,
the coupler should be abandoned.
■ Inspecting adaptors(Types A / F / DP)
Examine the adaptor surface for nicks, cuts, scratches, dents, or pitting. If any of
these conditions is present,
abandon the adaptor.
Examine the groove area for excessive wear or dents. If either is present,
abandon the adaptor.
Check the adaptor for roundness by inserting it into a new coupler. If the
adaptor does not move smoothly in and
out of the coupler, abandon the adaptor.
■ Inspecting hose shank(Types C / E)
Examine the collar for any cuts, scratches, gouges or flat spots. If any of
these conditions is present, the coupling
should be abandoned.
Examine the inside of the shank for pitting or corrosion. If either is present,
the coupling should be abandoned.

SAFETY PRECAUTION
Worn out couplings and component parts should be replaced or abandoned promptly.
Check couplings and safety clamps and connections regularly and tighten or replace if necessary.
Do not combine fittings of different metals as galvanic action could cause undue corrosion.
Match proudct to be conveyed with the proper coupling and seal. Improper selection of seal material or use with a
seal in deteriorated condition can result in property damage
or bodily injury.
The use of safety pins is recommended for all presurized hose connection.
